Operation Christmas Child 2014

OCC.JPG
In the months of October and November, the students participated in OCC.  OCC stands for Operation Christmas Child. Every student who participates agrees to pack a box for a child in need.  Once we have collected all of the boxes in our classrooms, we  then move the boxes to the auditorium with all of the other boxes from the other classes in the school.  After our send off chapel, we move the OCC boxes to the storage pod in the parking lot by forming a human chain where we all stand in a line and pass the boxes down the rows and out the front doors.  Our class goal was 30 packed boxes.  We didn’t quite make our goal, but we did pack 23 boxes to send.

Line Art Project

The Grade 5’s this year made an art project named Line Art which ties in with our Shape and Space Math Unit.  The idea for the project came from a painting in the foyer at the Ramada Inn in Fargo. The grade 5’s used small, medium and large strips of cardboard to paint different types of lines. On the projects you will find parallel, perpendicular, intersecting, horizontal and vertical lines. Some of the students made things that resemble stuff, like Simon made Oscorp.  It included trucks and buildings. It was cool! The students enjoyed the project very much and may continue it next year.
